Our artist will be dressed as elegant but edgy as we want her persona to come across as strong but not aggressive and independent to allow our female target audience to be able to aspire to her instead of being threatened by her. This type of cloth range is very in trend as it is winter season, most girls want to keep snug but also look great. We have added gold jewellery as that is a convention within R&B music videos; it connotes wealth and our target audience, being young teenagers and adults trying to do well for themselves, will aspire to be; successful. The two main colours within our costume are black, gold, pastel colours and white. This is because at the start of the 30 seconds we will be having flash backs of the couple when they were together at Primrose Hill. We want to use pastel and neutral colours such as baby pink, light blue, wheat (Timberlands) and white as they combined with the atmosphere and colours of the park they create a more angelic feel to reflect how the couple were. When we fade into the rest of the song the main artist will mostly be wearing Black and White not only to show how the life has been taken out of her due to the break up but to show that life works to ways, it shows simplicity but creates irony as her scenario is so complicated.
We feel that heels during the music video will be more suitable after the 30 second flash back as heals are not only fashionable shoes that our target audience tend to wear but they also boost self esteem making our artist taller and create a metaphorical meaning showing that our artist is the bigger person, looking down on her ex and pitying him rather than herself.
For the romantic scene in the restaurant the 'new girl' lead will either be wearing heals and jeans with a nice shirt and coat or a casual but elegant dress just to show how the male lead has 'upgraded' or rather 'downgraded' from the main artist. Although this creates matriarchal rivalry and almost a sort of hierarchy this does reflect real life scenarios and the whole intention of the music video is not only to promote but to portray truth and not lies so our target audience can genuinely engage with our product on an emotional scale.
Our main artist on the other hand will be wearing all dark clothes to display how much of a sinister person and reflect the outcome of the break up as well as being the conscience of the male who has lost his love.
For the males costume we have picked out trendy, urban outfits that would be warn by boys and young men aged 16-21 and even younger and older than our set age range. Because our Male artist is going to be in the video for the maximum time of 40-50 seconds we have decided that he would be wearing these sort of trend clothes through out his time on set. This particular outfit on the mood board is for the Flashback scene as it will be cold and we need our models to feel as comfortable as possible. We have chosen Timberlands for both our male and female leads as it creates the idea of togetherness as how this couples love is binding. It is also a popular brand among our target audience and they will be able to feel as though they can relate to the couple as they are like them; young, cool and trendy. We also have big high street brands such as Jordans', Superdry and Nike as our male audience in particular wear these sort of labels to increase the idea of wealth and inspiring to be something greater.
For the restaurant scene we will have our male as well as female dress in a elegant but not to formal manner, so Jeans with lace up black polished shoes, and a nice shirt with a black blazer.
Like the female, we have given the main male objects such as gold watches to reflect his success and to create a persona of the male artist being wealthy and has achieved a lot; however losing his girlfriend wasn't an achievement in our main artists eyes.
