Open Question Feedback-Nasrine

RECORDED

While conducting our target research we collected a couple of open question answers which explore different ideas from a variety of our target audience.
The first question we asked our audience was "what sort of R&B artists do you listen to?"
We received responses such as "Keisha Cole", "Mary G.Blige". One participant said they listen to "Old school R&B" such as Tyres Joe.

Continuing on we asked the audience if they knew what "R&B stands for". Although many replied with 'rhythm and blues' one continued to explain how rhythm and blues is a formation of many years of musical evolution and an infusion of many genres. "Its a good genre when expressing feelings of love, heartbreak and romance".

In order to gain more of an insight into how much our target audience know we asked what they thought the typical conventions of R&B is and they responded with things such as gold jewellery which represents wealth and status, beautiful woman accompanying mean which also represents wealth, status and patriarchal domination, lavish locations such as clubs, party sceneries, restaurants etc.

We also asked members of our audience if they prefer the more sexual ideas within the video or look for a moral story behind the whole video and song. Our audience replied with they like listening to the lyrics and its meaning and being able to relate to it. Linking this back to our song we feel that our song is a song in which has a story which the majority of our female target audience can relate to.

One person out of 10 said they preferred sex appeal whereas the other 9 prefer a less explicit more narrative approach. However the one person who preferred sex appeal said that they preferred that when it came to males using sex appeal within the video as she is a female. We liked this answer because it was a different approach compared to the conventional, 'traditional' idea of women being objectified.
